Say Goodbye to Your Popcorn Ceiling with Glue-Up Ceiling Tiles

Say Goodbye to Your Popcorn Ceiling with Glue-Up Ceiling Tiles

A popular trend from the 1950s to the 1980s in bedrooms and hallways of houses was popcorn ceilings. Also known as acoustic ceilings, stucco ceilings or cottage cheese ceilings, popcorn ceiling was a favourite among home builders because it's lively, white texture was cost effective and simple to apply. Popcorn ceilings also made it incredibly easy to cover up any imperfections there may have been on the ceiling; but the fad began to decline in 1977 after a ban was placed on asbestos (toxic minerals that separate into fibers that can be harmful) being in bumpy ceiling paint. Not all popcorn ceilings contain asbestos, though, and with a small sample of it, you can determine whether you're one of the lucky ones with an asbestos free ceiling.

Popcorn ceiling was helpful at the time of its invention, but it's extremely problematic now. A room is instantly dated because of it; so if you're looking to sell your home, a popcorn ceiling could prevent that from happening. It's also difficult to clean or mend. Some people attempt to remove popcorn ceiling by scraping it off but that has proven to be a long, unpleasant process and leaves the room messy and dirty. If you're looking to get rid of your out of style popcorn ceiling altogether, you can instead cover it up with glue-up ceiling tiles.

Glue-up ceiling tiles are a modern and tidy alternative to going through the trouble of scratching off that hideous popcorn ceiling. They are convenient because they literally attach to the surface of the already existing popcorn ceiling. So glue-up ceiling tiles prevent you from the hassle of having to actually remove the popcorn ceiling. You can instead just cover it up. Unlike trying to eradicate popcorn ceiling, glue-up ceiling tiles are completely painless to install. Popcorn ceiling can collect dust and be difficult to clean over time so glue-up ceiling tiles also solve the unpleasantness that comes along with popcorn ceiling. It takes little effort to wipe and clean glue-up ceiling tiles and they are not at all demanding to maintain - unlike popcorn ceilings.

Glue-up ceiling tiles can also be a great deal of fun because there are different designs, textures, colours, and styles to pick from. There is something that will match whatever you desire. You can choose a beautiful white flower petal pattern and add tiny light fixtures throughout the ceiling to provide an elegant feel to it. If you're looking for a more luxurious style, there's a stunning silver metallic design that would be nicely accentuated with a lavish chandelier hanging down from it. If you want a more serious and darker feel, there's a gorgeous bronze design that's perfect for a more open space. Additionally, if you want to go with a style that really makes a space pop, you can go with an embroidered circular design.

So, don't go through the trouble of trying to get rid of a popcorn ceiling when you can instead hide it with fashionable and modern glue-up ceiling tiles. They will instantly provide your home with the flair and glamour that had been missing.
